Florist Mekelle - Blumen Äthiopien

Sending flowers to Mekelle from another country is simple: order online in USD, and a florist in the city arranges the bouquet fresh and delivers it by hand within 1-2 business days. Prices start around $55, and the service fee is a flat $14.95 — the same for Ethiopia as for every destination we cover.

Which occasions call for flowers in Mekelle?

Ethiopia follows its own calendar, and it pays to know the dates. Enkutatash, the Ethiopian New Year on 11 September, is the most flower-linked holiday of all — the season when the yellow adey abeba daisies bloom across the highlands and children traditionally hand out flowers with new-year songs. Genna, Ethiopian Christmas on 7 January, and Timkat in mid-January are major family gatherings. Mekelle also sits in the heartland of Ashenda, the beloved August festival when girls and young women fill the streets in traditional dress — a joyful, distinctly Tigrayan moment to send something beautiful home.

Is it reliable to send flowers to Mekelle from abroad?

Yes, because nothing about your order depends on international shipping. A florist working in Mekelle sources the stems, builds the arrangement the day it goes out, and delivers it personally, coordinating by phone with your recipient — useful in a city where directions are often given by landmark, such as near the palace of Emperor Yohannes IV, whose stone residence still anchors the old town. You pay upfront in USD with no surprise charges, and your recipient receives only the gift and your message, written out exactly as you typed it.

Do flowers even grow well in Ethiopia?

Better than almost anywhere. Ethiopia is one of Africa's largest exporters of roses, and the same highland conditions that make its blooms famous — cool nights, strong sun, and altitude, with Mekelle itself sitting above 2,000 meters — mean cut flowers stay fresh far longer than in lowland heat. Your bouquet is drawn from that local supply, not flown in, so roses in particular are an excellent choice here, alongside whatever is at its seasonal best when your florist goes to market.
