Why is Ghent a city that takes flowers seriously?

Few cities on earth have Ghent's floral pedigree. The surrounding region of East Flanders is historic horticultural country — the Ghent azalea even carries protected European status — and the city hosts the Floraliën, the legendary flower show staged here since the 19th century. So when you send flowers to Ghent, you are sending them into a culture that genuinely knows the difference between a good bouquet and a great one. Our local florist arranges every order by hand on delivery day, which is exactly the standard this city expects.

When is the best time to send flowers to Ghent?

July brings the Gentse Feesten, ten days of music and street theatre that take over the medieval centre — a joyful, chaotic backdrop for a surprise delivery. Belgian Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May is the year's biggest flower moment, with Valentine's Day close behind. Ghent is also one of Europe's great student cities, home to Ghent University, so autumn move-ins, exam congratulations and July graduations generate a steady stream of bouquets from proud parents — many of them ordering from abroad.

How does delivery work in Ghent's car-restricted centre?

Ghent's historic core — the guild houses along the Graslei and Korenlei, the lanes of the Patershol, the streets beneath the three towers — is largely closed to through traffic, which defeats outside couriers but not a florist who works here every day. Your arrangement is built fresh, never shipped in a box, and delivered by hand to apartments, offices, hospitals or student housing alike. Card messages print exactly as you write them, in Dutch, English or any language, and ordering works in English or Spanish.
